Passport Photos at PostalAnnex+ in Brentwood

The United States State Department defines a passport as an internationally recognized travel document that verifies the identity and nationality of the bearer. A valid U.S. passport is required to enter and leave most foreign countries. Only the U.S. Department of State has the authority to grant, issue or verify United States passports.

PostalAnnex+ can help you get your passport, including taking the photos and providing other information including forms for renewal or first-time.

Who needs a passport?
Everyone, including infants, who will be traveling outside the United States and wants to return needs a passport.

Can I mail in my passport photos taken at PostalAnnex+ along with my application?
Yes, but only if it is for a renewal of an existing, current and valid passport. If you meet the following criteria, you can mail in your application:

•Your most recent passport is available to submit and it is not damaged;
•You received the passport within the last 15 years;
•You were over 16 when it was issued;
•You still have the same name, or you can legally document your name change.
If you do not meet the criteria listed above for a renewal through the mail, you will need to bring your application in person to an acceptance facility. Examples of situations in which you will need to bring your application in person:

•If you’re applying for a passport for the first time;
•If your expired U.S. passport is not in your possession;
•If your previous U.S. passport has expired and was issued more than 15 years ago;
•If your previous U.S. passport was issued when you were under 16;
•If your currently valid U.S. passport had been lost or stolen.
Many federal and state courts, post offices, public libraries, and a number of county and city offices are able to process your passport application.

At PostalAnnex+, we take professional passport photos, accepted by passport processing agencies. Most stores accept walk-in’s, so no appointment is needed, but call the phone number at the top of the screen for your passport photo needs.

Packaging Supplies at PostalAnnex+ in Brentwood

At each PostalAnnex+, you’ll find a variety of packaging supplies: cardboard (corrugated) boxes, bubble wrap, Pelanspan® loosefill (also known as packaging peanuts or packaging popcorn), packaging tape, padded/bubble mailing envelopes, decorative mailers in both box and padded envelope variations, shipping/mailing tubes and many others.

The correct choice of packaging supplies affects several factors in the delivery of your shipment:
•The proper shipping product will protect your contents against damage;
•Choosing the right product will keep your contents from falling out of, or becoming loose from, the packaging;
•Selecting the best size for your shipment not only protects your contents, but can minimize shipping costs as well. If you select a packaging product too large for the contents, it may incur oversize charges on ground shipments, and dimensional weight charges on air shipments. (Dimensional weight is the rated weight, not the actual weight, based on the size of the shipping container.
At PostalAnnex+, our packaging supplies professional can help you choose the right product for your shipment to ensure its protection as well as minimize shipping costs.

And the packaging professionals at each PostalAnnex+ have years of experience in knowing how to properly pack your items to survive the shipping environment of tosses, tumbles and drops.

From special packaging tape to 1/8” foam to protect shipments of dinnerware, we’ve got a variety of packaging supplies to offer you. And what we don’t have in-store, we often can get in as little as 24 hours.

So whether you want to pack at home or have us help you in the store, choose PostalAnnex+ for the right packaging supplies; you’ll certainly save time and may even save money!

Post Office Box (PO Box) versus a Private Mailbox (PMB):

Post Office Box (PO Box) versus a Private Mailbox (PMB):

A Post Office Box (PO Box) is the simplest mailbox available, which is provided by the Post Office at a low rate.  This type of mailbox provides the renter with the security and knowledge that not only will they receive their mail, but that no one else will  be able to access it.  The major drawback, however, is that a PO Box will only except US Postal Mail.  This means that you will not be able to receive any packages or items that have been sent to you via UPS or FedEx.  In addition, the PO Box is often not able to be used as an actual address for your business or personal paperwork.

A Private Mailbox (PMB) works just like a PO Box, however it gives you a physical address that you can use for your identification and business or personal paperwork.  In addition to the physical location, when you order an item online or have someone send you a package, the shipper does not matter.  A PMB can sign for your FedEx, UPS or DHL package just as if it were you, and hold them until you are ready to pick them up.  Most Small Office/Home Office businesses do not want to use their home address for their business address, so the physical address of the PMB offers a more professional appearance than a PO Box.

How do you know when you have mail?  At the Post Office, you need to go in every day to check your box.  With a Private Mailbox, there are a variety of ways to check to see if you have mail:

  1. Drive in.  If you are out and about, pop in to see if you have mail;
  2. Email notifications:  Most PMB operators tend to have an email notification system in place, either daily or once a week, that lets you know if you have mail so you don’t need to spend the time or gas to check;
  3. Call-In:  This is the simplest method to  check your mail, as it saves you time and you can check whenever it crosses your mind, without needing you to be by your computer.

Mail forwarding is another service offered by PMB operators that the Post Office does not offer.  If you are going to be on vacation for a week or two, you can arrange to have your mail sent to you.  How often, or what mail pieces you want, as well as the cost, are set between you and the operator.  You can receive your important mail pieces when you are away from home and not miss that bill or package.

While the key decision in a PO Box or PMB is the price, the extra that you pay for what you receive far outweighs the overall cost.
